The Four-Day Week

Have you read about the companies trialling a four-day working week?

I have, and I must admit I'm rather sceptical about the whole idea.

Apparently productivity stayed the same, while staff reported far less burnout.

That may be true for office work, but it hardly applies to hospitals or schools.

Fair point, although those sectors could experiment with flexible rotas instead.

I'd also worry that people would simply cram five days of work into four.

The trials suggest that unnecessary meetings are usually the first thing to go.

Well, if it means fewer meetings, you might just persuade me after all.
