A Day in My Life 17: Making a Salad

It's Saturday, and it's a hot, sunny day. I'm hungry, but I don't want to cook. So I'm going to make a big salad for lunch! I open the fridge and take out some vegetables. A lettuce, two tomatoes, and a cucumber. Wait, where's the cucumber? Oh, there it is, behind the milk! First, I wash the lettuce in cold water. I wash it carefully because there's sometimes sand in it. Then I tear the leaves into small pieces. Next, I chop the tomatoes on a board. I slice the cucumber, too. My new knife is sharper than my old one! Now I'm going to make a simple dressing. I put oil, lemon juice, and salt in a jar. Then I close the lid and shake it hard. Shake, shake, shake! It sounds like a little drum. Suddenly, Mochi jumps onto the kitchen chair! She smells the lettuce and looks at me. Sorry, Mochi, cats don't eat salad! I give her a cat treat instead. I put everything in a big bowl. Then I pour the dressing on top. Wow, it looks so fresh and colorful! It's lighter than a burger, but I'm full. And I didn't turn on the stove once!
