Tell us what is wrong and we'll fix it.
We've been talking about a course you took online.
Now I'd like to ask you some more general questions.
Sure, go ahead!
Why do you think online learning has become so popular?
Well, convenience is the obvious answer.
People can study whenever and wherever they like.
A nurse on night shifts, for instance, can still take a degree.
And the cost! Some courses are completely free!
Are online classes as effective as face-to-face ones?
Hmm... I'd say it depends on the learner.
Self-motivated adults tend to do really well online.
But younger students often struggle to stay focused.
During the pandemic, my little brother barely learned anything.
Why was that, do you think?
Ugh, he'd turn his camera off and play games!
To be fair, it's hard to concentrate alone at home.
Children need a teacher in the room, keeping them on track.
Will schools as we know them disappear in the future?
Disappear? Oh, I really doubt it!
Schools do far more than just pass on knowledge.
It's where kids learn to make friends and work in teams.
So you don't see robots replacing teachers, then?
Ha, not anytime soon, I hope!
That said, classrooms will probably look quite different.
We'll likely see a blend of online and in-person lessons.
Imagine students exploring ancient Rome in virtual reality!
And what about the role of the teacher?
It'll shift from lecturing to guiding and mentoring.
Thank you. That's the end of the speaking test.
Oh, is it over already?
It is. Thank you for your time today.
Thank you! I really enjoyed that discussion.
