Okay, class, it's show-and-tell time!
Who wants to go first today?
Me, please! I brought my giraffe.
Oh, lovely! Come to the front.
This is a giraffe. It's my favourite animal.
Giraffes are the tallest animals in the world!
Really? How tall are they?
Some are taller than five metres!
Wow! That's taller than three teachers!
And what about that long neck?
Guess what? It has only seven bones.
Only seven? That's the same as people!
I know! The bones are just very big.
So, what do giraffes eat?
They eat leaves from the tops of trees.
Their tongues are about half a metre long!
Half a metre? That's longer than my ruler!
And their tongues are dark purple, not pink.
Hmm, do giraffes sleep a lot, like cats?
No, they don't! They sleep very little.
Often less than two hours a day!
Two hours? Oh, I need much more than that!
Me too! And they often sleep standing up.
And where do giraffes live?
They live in Africa, in hot, open places.
Last summer, I saw one at the zoo.
It was so tall, I couldn't believe it!
Oh, how lucky you are!
Well done! That was a wonderful talk.
Everyone, let's give a big clap!
Um... thank you! I was a bit nervous.
But giraffes really are the best!
